BREAKING: Peyton Woodyard Deccomits from Georgia, Flips to Alabama.
The Georgia football program has continued to run hot with the 2024 recruiting class as they have stacked up an immense amount of talent. The Bulldogs took a hit to their upcoming class though, as safety Peyton Woodyard announced he has de-committed from the Bulldogs, and will play his college football for Alabama.
Woodyard is rated as a four-star safety and the sixth-best player at his position in this year's class, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He originally committed to Georgia back in early January of this year at the Addidas All-American game
This is what he had to say about this original decision to pick Georgia:
On why he chose Georgia:
"It's the University of Georgia. And, it's like, if you're trying to be the best, you go to play with the best. That's what Coach Fran [Brown] told me, and they're going to coach me hard and coach me right. Coach Fran, [Will] Muschamp, Coach Kirby [Smart], how much better can it get for a DB, and a safety at that? Kirby played safety himself, so it's going to be fun."
Woodyard would go on to tell on3.com that one of the reasons for his flip to Alabama was that in his opinion, no one does it better than Bama. Georgia is now without a safety commit in the 2024 class. Demello Jones will start his career at corner per sources, KJ Bolden committed to Florida State Saturday evening, and Jaylen Heyward de-committed earlier in the cycle.
