The first round of the NFL draft is right around the corner, and several Georgia players have been busy meeting with teams that could potentially take them on day one. Former Georgia defensive lineman has spent the last couple of weeks meeting with teams that hold a top 10 pick, but it's not just the teams with an early first-round pick that are targeting Carter.

According to Dov Kleiman, an NFL news reporter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to trade up to the 9th overall pick if Carter is still available. They currently hold the 17th pick. This is an interesting development considering Carter's agent announced just a couple of weeks ago that he would not be meeting with any organization that does not have a top-10 pick. Obviously, if that is true, the Steelers will not have met with Carter, but also think Carter is worth the move regardless.

ESPN's Adam Schefter also released information that Carter will be meeting with the Detroit Lions on Monday. After that meeting, the former Bulldog will have met with every single team that holds a pick between the 5th and 10th picks, except for one. The hometown Atlanta Falcons remain the only team in that draft range that has not yet scheduled a meeting with Carter.

Carter has long been considered one of the best overall prospects in this year's draft class, and many still view him as such. NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper still views Carter as the best player in this year's class and is of the belief that his stock has not dropped for any NFL teams either.

"The reality is Carter's stock hasn't dropped in the eyes of NFL teams, and so I'm not dropping him in my rankings. On the field, he is a fantastic prospect. I moved him to No. 1 in my December Big Board update, and he finished the season playing the best ball of his career. He had 12 quarterback pressures in his final three games for the back-to-back national champs. He was fantastic after he returned in late October from missing two games because of a knee issue." - Kiper on Carter
