Previewing Georgia's 2023 Schedule

Georgia's 2023 season will be underway before long. Here is a preview of the Dawgs' upcoming regular season

As the College Football offseason marches along, the Bulldogs highly anticipated regular season creeps closer and closer. So as Kirby Smart and his team prepare to make a run at a third-straight national title, we at Dawgs Daily took the liberty to preview Georgia's upcoming 2023 regular season.

Week 1: UT Martin

Night games are back in Athens! Well... Sort of. The Dawgs will open the season against the UT Martin Skyhawks at 6 p.m. in what should be a game that is over long before the red lights come on during the start of the 4th quarter.

Week 2: Ball State

Georgia will continue its month-long marathon in Athens as it hosts the Ball State Cardinals in week two. Had the SEC not intervened, the Bulldogs would instead be traveling to Norman, Oklahoma this week to take on the Sooners. Nevertheless, Kirby Smart will likely not go any easier on the Cardinals.

Week 3: South Carolina

The Bulldogs begin their SEC schedule against Shane Beamer's South Carolina Gamecocks at 3:30 p.m. in Athens. Georgia currently holds a three-game win streak over Carolina and has defeated the Gamecocks by an average score of 44-12 over the past three meetings.

Week 4: UAB

Georgia will close out its four-game home stretch against the UAB Blazers. A team that played the Dawgs back during their 2021 national title run. Since the two teams first met in 2003, Bulldogs have yet to lose a game to the Blazers and will most likely continue that streak this season.

Week 5: @Auburn

For the first road test of the season, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs will head to Auburn, AL to take on the Tigers. Smart will also be looking to get his first win against Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. Who will be in his first year as the Tigers' head coach.

Week 6: Kentucky

Georgia is currently on a 13-game win streak against Kentucky which dates back all the way to 2009. Surprisingly, this is the Bulldogs' longest active win streak against SEC opponents. Smart and company would love to make it 14 games. Which they should have no issue doing, given the home-field advantage and the fact that Kentucky will be replacing its star quarterback Will Levis.

Week 7: @Vanderbilt

The Bulldogs will be headed to Nashville for their second (that's right. Second.) away game during week seven of the regular season. But will this even be an away game with the way Dawgnation travels?

Georgia has not lost to Vanderbilt in Nashville since 2013.

Week 8: BYE

Week 9: Florida

Jacksonville (For now). Frat Beach. Bulldogs vs Gators. World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Georgia fans know the drill for this one. The biggest question coming into this game will be how secure Billy Napier's job?

Week 10: Ole Miss

For the last game in Athens of the 2023 season, Lane Kiffin will enter Sanford Stadium as the Ole Miss head coach for the first time in his career. Kiffin's team will likely be outmatched on the talent scale, but at least he shouldn't have to worry about dodging any mustard bottles or golf balls.

Week 11: @Tennessee

After the thrashing the No.1 ranked Vols suffered at the hands of Georgia last year, Volnation will likely be looking for blood against the Bulldogs. Regardless of either team's record or ranking, this will be Georgia's biggest test of the season and will likely determine whether or not this team can make another push for a title. Will the Dawgs be ready?

Reports estimate that crowd noise during the game between Georgia and Tennessee in 2022 reached a level of over 132 decibels. Making it one of the loudest environments in college football history.

Week 12: @Georgia Tech

Rivalry Week brings in another rendition of "Clean Old Fashioned Hate". Or what is now better known as, "The Annual Georgia Mud-Stomping a Hole into Tech's Chest" game. Doesn't roll off the tongue as smoothly, but when your in-state rival can't even fill their home stadium to 75% capacity is there even hate to be had?

The Georgia Bulldogs will be looking to make history this season as the first college football team of the modern era to win three-straight national titles. This regular season schedule gives them a better opportunity than most. A schedule that sees minimal away games and very few tough opponents, combined with the fact that the Bulldogs will have the more talented roster in every game they play. It may sound cliche, but the biggest thing that is going to stand in the way of Georgia winning yet another national title is Georgia.
