The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Georgia Defeats Vanderbilt 37-20
The Georgia Bulldogs handed business in Nashville this afternoon as they defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores by a score of 37-20. Following the Bulldogs' big win, we bring you the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Good: Mike Bobo's Play Calling
Mike Bobo garnered large amounts of criticism for his play calling at the beginning of the 2023 season. However, in the past few games, the Bulldogs' offense has looked tremendous with tons of variety in the playbook. Today's outing was no different as the Bulldogs gained an impressive 552 total yards en route to a 37-20 victory.
The Bad: Another Shaky Start
After a busted coverage allowed Vanderbilt to score its first touchdown in five years against the Bulldogs. Carson Beck was strip-sacked on the ensuing drive, giving Vanderbilt another short field to work with. Fortunately, the Bulldogs came alive and commanded the remainder of the game but the rocky starts against SEC opponents is beginning to grow more and more alarming.
The Ugly: Injuries
A hush fell over the Georgia crowd when star tight end Brock Bowers limped off the field after suffering what appeared to be a left ankle sprain. Later that drive, starting tackle Xavier Truss also suffered a lower-body injury and did not return. While the Bulldogs will have an extra week to get healthy thanks to the bye week, the slew of injuries to star players is alarming. Especially given the team will be entering some of its toughest matches of the season.
