BREAKING: #1 Center in The Country Has Committed to Georgia
Just when you thought this 2020 offensive line class couldn't get much better, Sam Pittman went out and grabbed the highest rated center in the class. That would be Louisiana native, Sedrick Van Pran-Granger.
Van Pran-Granger recently got the bump as the #1 center in the 2020 class per Rivals. He's also #72 overall, 2nd overall in the state of Louisiana. He now joins Corey Wren as the second commit in this class from the state of Louisiana. Luckily for LSU, they won't have to face these guys during the careers at Georgia, unless a postseason game comes up.
This guy is definitely someone you should be excited about. Van Pran-Granger is a solid lineman at 6'4 305 lbs., who is not afraid to put someone on their back. In fact, he'll generally bulldoze each defender into the ground, playing beyond the whistle. Van Pran-Granger has the exact tenacity and aggressiveness that Pittman looks for in an offensive lineman.
So, how did Sam Pittman find a way to take a gem out LSU territory?
Well, Pittman has the personality and communication skills that make him one of the best recruiters in the game. He's also a hell of a coach, and he's starting to build a resume for it. The Patriots selected Isaiah Wynn in the first round in 2018. Lamont Gaillard was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals just a few months ago. Georgia will likely have two more first-round linemen in Isaiah Wilson and Andrew Thomas if they decide to declare. You can put your money on it that Sam Pittman will do all he can to get Van Pran-Granger into the league as well.
After talking to Sedrick Van Pran-Granger on why he chose Georgia, he stated, "I love Kirby Smart, he coaches for his players. I love coach Pittman, he's the best in the country. Georgia is also one of the highest public universities for education."
Van Pran-Granger becomes the last piece to the 2020 offensive line haul.
Here's what the 2020 O-line commits look like for Georgia:
Broderick Jones- 5-Star
Tate Ratledge- 4-Star
Chad Lindberg- 4-Star
Joshua Braun- 4-Star
With an offensive line unit of that caliber, it makes sense why a guy like Kendall Milton would decide to come from across the country to play at Georgia. It also makes sense for the #1 running back prospect, Zachary Evans, to heavily consider Georgia as well.
Van Pran-Granger becomes the 17th commitment to join the "super team" that Kirby and Co. are building, and a very important one at that. This commitment brings Georgia to a class score of 280.08 and brings the Bulldogs within 20 points of the current #1 spot, which is held by the Clemson Tigers.
We'll see if Van Pran-Granger can join recruiters like Mekhail Sherman, Carson Beck, and Kendall Milton to build on to this year's class.
