2020 UGA Recruiting: 5-Star Challenge Review /

The Rivals 5-star Challenge is our annual look at the best the upcoming senior high school class has to offer. This year's camp in Atlanta featured the nation's top talent faced to face in position drills.

Today, we will look at each position group and highlight some of the players that truly stood out in one on one drills. Starting with the Quarterbacks.

Quarterback

The Tennesee commit, Harrison Bailey stole the show this week, winning the MVP award for the quarterback position. The nearly 6'5 quarterback from Tennessee put the skills on display, but those on the field were most impressed with the way that Bailey commanded his team in the huddle during 7-on-7's.

Prince Avenue Christian's, and recent Oklahoma commit, Brock Vandagriff put on a show as well during the 7-on-7 drills. His fellow quarterback on the team, Jack Miller, was out with a sore shoulder and Vandagriff carried his squad the tournament championship.

We will hear from UGA commit, Carson Beck, this weekend as he's at the Elite 11 camp.

Running Back

None of the Georgia running back targets were in attendance but we will spend a brief moment giving a few guys some love.

The main thing to take away from the RB&TE's vs LB 1-on-1 drills for we Georgia fans is the coverage ability from linebacker targets like Justin Flowe and even the much bigger, Noah Sewell.

As for the backs, Bijan Robinson, the 5-star back out of Arizona showed an elite open field ability and a developed route running ability. The young man's feet are out of this world.

(Honorable Mention) has to go to Deandre Boykins in the 2021 class. He was the young man that backflipped after getting loose for a completion.

Tight Ends

Look, this position group for the 2020 class is pretty simple, there's Arik Gilbert then there's everybody else. He runs such elite routes for a person his size, it's no wonder Tennesee has damn near convinced him that he can play wideout.

This is rumored to be the only thing preventing him from committing to UGA, and though I can see why the young man has his confidence about being a wide receiver, I know he will be an incredibly great tight end, not just at the collegiate level, but in the NFL.

The other tight ends that UGA is pursuing, Jalin Conyers, Maliq Carr, and Darnell Washington were not in attendance.

Linebackers

The nation's best linebacker is clearly Justin Flowe and he did everything to ensure people knew so this week in Atlanta. His style of play can only be described as that of a bully.

Exhibit A

Another UGA target, Noah Sewell had a good week as well. This is a guy that stands 6'2 266 pounds. Yes, you read that correctly, 266. And he plays running back for his high school as well. He's just a freakish athlete that you almost don't even know how to classify him, and for further proof of this combination of strength and speed, he won the Gauntlet challenge.

Wide Receivers

Recent UGA commit, Marcus Rosemy won the MVP award for the wideouts this year, and for good reason. The young man from St. Thomas Aquinas displayed grown man route running and ball skills in 1-on-1 ones then proceeded to get open constantly in 7-0n-7's.

Other UGA targets such as Michael Redding and Javian Hester were in attendance as well. They both made a couple of extremely contested catches on the sideline which shows promise.

Cornerbacks

UGA commit Jalen Kimber was in attendance and he did well, but the highlight of the camp overall has to be Kelee Ringo, the nation's best corner out of Arizona. We've talked about his camp performance enough, but it almost can't be overstated the caliber of player this young man is. If you had to search for one negative comment, the only one I think you could come up with is that he's too physical and can sometimes get grabby, but what corner doesn't?
