2021 UGA Recruiting: Never too early to look ahead to the upcoming class
The 2020 recruiting class currently sits at 16 commitments, that's good enough for the 5th overall class in the nation. On the other hand, the 2021 class does not have a single commitment, yet. Schools like Miami already have 13 commitments for 2021. But, Georgia is not behind at all. In fact, in the past, Georgia doesn't normally get much traction on future classes until the current cycle has signed.
But while we wait to see who Georgia adds next in the 2020 recruiting class, we can point out a few of the big-name targets for the 2021 cycle.
Korey Foreman: 5-Star Defensive Lineman
Corona, California
247 Composite Ranking: National- 2nd, Position- 2nd, State- 1st
Height/Weight: 6'4 245 lbs.
Georgia just landed a California-native on Monday, Kendall Milton, and it doesn't look like he'll be the last. Foreman is a recent high riser in the rankings since March and is now listed as one of the top players in the country. He's fresh off an unofficial visit to Georgia, and I'm sure he'll be in Athens more consistently. Foreman will have a chance to come to Georgia and turn around the defensive line unit, which hasn't been up to par with other elite teams in the past few years.
James Williams: 5-Star Safety
Opa Locka, Florida
247 Composite Ranking: National- 4th, Position- 1st, State- 1st
Height/Weight: 6'5 218 lbs.
So, I know what you're thinking. Too tall to be a defensive back. Wrong. Williams, formerly committed to Miami, is one of the most unique defensive backs in all of high school football right now. He's got a huge frame, and that gives him an advantage in tackling, as receivers and tight ends these days tend to get bigger. Williams is almost like having an outside linebacker floating around in the secondary, much like current Georgia safety, Otis Reese. Now, imagine pairing him with Reese or true freshman, Lewis Cine.
Williams could be looking to commit soon. Coming off an unofficial visit to Georgia this past weekend, check out his recent tweets.
Caleb Williams: 5-Star Quarterback
Washington D.C.
247 Composite Ranking: National- 12th, Position- 1st (DT), State- 1st
Height/Weight: 6'1 209 lbs.
Caleb Williams just saw his rank boosted to the #1 overall dual-threat quarterback in the 2021 cycle. Williams has a solid frame for a mobile quarterback and ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at The Opening Regional in May. Williams is Georgia's top option for the 2021 class, and he's been very pro-UGA on Twitter. Williams is currently 100% UGA on the 247 Crystal Ball.
Amarius Mims: 5-Star Offensive Lineman
Cochran, Georgia
247 Composite Ranking: National- 15th, Position- 3rd, State- 2nd
Height/Weight: 6'7.5 315 lbs.
Sam Pittman will be trying to tack on some more high-end offensive line talent again in 2021. Mims, at 6'7.5, has enough room to tack on more muscle with his ability to move well for 315lbs. 247sports currently projects Mims as a future first-round NFL Draft pick. He stated earlier on Twitter that his recruitment is wide-open, but Georgia and Alabama seem to be the favorites at the moment.
Micah Morris: 5-Star Offensive Lineman
Kingsland, Georgia
247 Composite Ranking: National- 29th, Position- 6th, State- 3rd
Height/Weight: 6'4 316 lbs.
Micah Morris, another versatile lineman, will have the ability to play guard or tackle at the school of his choice. Morris plays good competition at Camden County High School, and he'll be more than prepared to play at the next level. The 247 Crystal Ball currently shows 67% UGA and 33% South Carolina.
Smael Mondon: 4-Star Outside Linebacker
Dallas, Georgia
247 Composite Ranking: National- 36th, Position- 2nd, State- 4th
Height/Weight: 6'3 205 lbs.
Mondon recently picked up the Georgia offer in May, and quickly began to trend towards the Bulldogs. Mondon has good length at 6'3, but he'll need to tack on 20-30 pounds of muscle to fit into the Georgia linebacker core. The 247 Crystal Ball currently reads 100% UGA.
