Marlin Dean Decommits From Georgia Football

Marlin Dean from Elbert County has decommitted from the university of Georgia.

Elbert County High School defensive lineman Marlin Dean has decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs. Dean had been a committed part of the 2021 class since March 6th.

Dean is a 6'6" 265 pounder that had done quite a bit of recruiting in his own right for the Dawgs. It was not uncommon to see Dean encouraging other prospects to commit to the 'G'. The decommitment comes as a bit of a surprise in that aspect. However, the other thing that has to be considered with this decision is what does it mean for the overall 2021 picture for Georgia.

Georgia football is going to be closer to 20 signees in the 2021 class than it is the traditional 25. It's well known that Georgia is heavily pursuing and seems to be in good shape with Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins. Also, Georgia has become heavily involved with Korey Foreman after his decommitment from Clemson. Foreman, the consensus  number one overall prospect in the class of 2021, has also made it clear that he is close with fellow blue-chip interior lineman Maason Smith out of Louisiana.

With Dean having seemed like such a solid commitment since early March, the question has to be asked, is Georgia gaining ground on these 4 and 5-Star targets like Ingram-Dawkins, Foreman, and Smith. A decision by Ingram-Dawkins could come soon, and again Dawgs Daily feels Georgia is in great shape there. Foreman and Smith are likely to not make a decision until signing day, but if today's development is any indication that that Tray Scott and UGA are gaining ground with Foreman and, or Smith, they would be well worth the wait.
