The sweepstakes for California's third-best player will end Saturday morning at 11:30 EST when Aydin Breland chooses his future college. The towering 6' 5" 290 defensive lineman has narrowed his list down to three total schools in Miami, Georgia, and Oregon, so where will he commit to?

Miami

Mario Cristobal, the head man of the Miami Hurricanes, has seen success in the recruiting world since taking over in South Beach. Cristobal has used NIL to his advantage of landing big-time prospects in the past two years but hasn't landed the caliber player like Breland on the defensive side of the ball. The Hurricanes have the 11th-best class for 2024 and have spent most of their recruiting capital on skill players like recently flipped WR Ny Carr. Cristobal and his staff need to land a player like Breland after landing just five total defensive linemen in last season's recruiting cycle. Breland could help solidify a front seven that has spent much recruiting capital on linebackers, EDGE players, and DBs. Cristobal can land talented defensive linemen, such as Kayvon Thibodeaux, who played for Cristobal at Oregon. Breland is the player who could make the same impact as Thibodeaux for Cristobal's tenure at Miami if he goes there.

Georgia

Georgia was the team that seemingly led in the senior's recruiting process, and for good reason. The 4-star DL gets to tie up his laces alongside Georgia RB commit Nate Frazier day in and day out. Constantly going against the talent that runs through Mater Dei High School won't be a change of pace if Breland were to go to Athens and play for Kirby Smart and the National Champion Bulldogs. Also, in a recent interview, Breland mentioned he wanted "NFL development," so what better place to go than Georgia, which has had six defensive linemen drafted in the last two years? Moving across the country, such as Brock Bowers and Kendall Milton did, is no easy task, and could ultimately swing Breland away from the Bulldogs and the idea of continuing to play with Nate Frazier.

Oregon

The closest school that Breland included in his top three comes with Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks. Lanning currently has the 13th-best class for 2024 and has spent most of his scholarships on defensive talent to help shut down the perennial offensive firepower in the Big Ten, which they will join in 2024. When Lanning was on Georgia's staff in 2021, he saw what a stifling Oregon defense did at Ohio State to pull off a major upset early that season. Landing a player like Breland could give Lanning his Kayvon Thibodeaux for his tenure. The Ducks are competing with Georgia for this premiere prospect and are in the lead of his recruitment from what Dawgs Daily has heard from sources.

Ultimately, the decision will be up to the promising 6' 5" prospect who appears to be leaning toward the Ducks as this one comes to a close.

Breland decides on his future college on October 14th at 11:30 a.m. EST on 247Sports YouTube Channel, the same day the No. 8 Oregon Ducks travels to take on the No. 7 Washington Huskies. Georgia will take on Vanderbilt that day in Nashville, TN.
