Who's Stock has Risen This Spring for Georgia?
The University of Georgia is currently through nine of fifteen allotted spring practices. So, it begs the question, who's been the biggest stock risers this spring?
We have just under two weeks before the Georgia Bulldogs' 2024 roster is on full display in front of a national television audience on April 13th for G-Day. They've complete 9 of the 15 allotted practices for the spring, with the first inter-squad scrimmage in the books following Saturday afternoon. So, who have been the biggest stock risers this spring?
Roderick Robinson, RB
We knew based on the depth chart in the running back room entering spring practice that Robinson had an opportunity for a massive spring. With Trevor Etienne coming into the fold new to the program and Branson Robinson still recovering from knee surgery last fall, it was Robinson's room to start spring camp and he hasn't failed to impress. The running back room will look a lot different in September than it did Saturday afternoon inside Sanford Stadium for the first spring scrimmage with the addition of Nate Frazier into the room as well as presumably a healthy Branson Robinson at some point. That being said, Robinson has done his best this spring to make it known he deserves a premier spot in the rotation this fall.
Jared Wilson, C
Georgia was going to need Wilson to step up at some point this offseason and become the best version of himself at the center position after needing to replace three-year starter in Sedrick Van Pran. According to sources, Wilson has done exactly that and had head coach Kirby Smart raving about Wilson's abilities to the media. "I can't wait for the world to see Jared Wilson," Smart said about Wilson when asked about the junior center. He's an extreme athlete who will need to continue to develop rapport with the rest of an extremely talented offensive line room.
Samuel M'Pemba, EDGE
M'Pemba has had an impressive spring practice, there's no doubt about that. However, his name finds its way onto the stock risers list as a hat-tip to what seems to be an incredible offseason for the young edge rushers. M'Pemba's name was constantly brought up by sources not only this spring but majority of the offseason. Through workouts, conditioning, and spring practice, M'Pemba has found his way into some playing time it seems in a crowded OLB room.
