UGA Spring Game Highlights - Well-Balanced Performance for Bulldogs
Saturday's UGA spring game saw plenty of well-balanced action in Athens for the the Bulldogs. Here are the highlights.
The Georgia Bulldogs played their annual G-Day Scrimmage game on Saturday afternoon inside of Sanford Stadium. The second half featured a running clock, with plenty of passing attempts. It's far from a true game with regard to play-calling and starter rotations. However, it's plenty to evaluate the roster on for those outside Butts-Mehere football facilities in Athens, Georgia.
Saturday had plenty of standouts, let's take a look at the highlights.
UGA Spring Game Highlights
Dominic Lovett, WR
Dominic Lovett entered the Georgia program a year ago as one of the more potentially impactful wide receivers in the portal for the 2023 windows. After a full year not only in the Georgia system but alongside Carson Beck, there are signs that he could be in store for a big year. Lovett's 7 catches for 104 yards and a TD were the most by any receiver on Saturday. It wasn't just the balls he caught either, there were a few passes to Lovett that Carson Beck overcooked just a bit to start the football game. Oh, and Lovett had one of the crazier catches you'll ever see on a football field.
Roderick Robinson, RB
Roderick Robinson had sources raving this spring practice period behind closed doors. He's 6'1, 242 pounds and has 8% body sources close to the program say. Additionally, he's not only obviously impossible to tackle, but he showed Saturday that he can be a threat in open field. He's going to have a big season alongside transfer Trevor Etienne who pairs perfectly with Robinson. It was a good day for Robinson out of the backfield especially.
CJ Allen, LB
CJ Allen entered Georgia as a top-100 eval at the linebacker position and due to injury and a thinner room a year ago, Allen was forced into action as a true freshman. He recorded 45 total tackles in year one, and now he's assumed the starting role at MIKE as Jamon Dumas-Johnson transferred to Kentucky. Allen did not disappoint in his debut as "the guy" at the linebacker position this season for the Dawgs. He was a force in the open field, tackling ball carriers with efficiency and swiftness. Allen also had one of the better interceptions you'll see for an inside linebacker.
