Former Georgia Tech Star Thad Young Included In Big NBA Trade Deadline Deal
Former Georgia Tech Basketball star Thad Young was involved in a big NBA trade today. Today marks the NBA trade deadline and it is the last time that teams are able to make a big push for the playoffs and there has been a flurry of activity.
The Toronto Raptors traded Young and point guard Dennis Schroder to the Brooklyn Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie. The Raptors have been making moves at the deadline today and Young does not appear to be in their future plans.
After being a star in Atlanta for Georgia Tech, Young has made a nice career for himself at the NBA level.
Here are his career NBA stats courtesy of NBA.com
"Across 901 games (671 starts), holds career averages of 13.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.46 spg in 30.7 mpg … has shot .501 from the field, .329 from three and .673 from the free-throw line … has recorded 90 double-doubles with a single-season high of 28 during the 2015-16 campaign with BKN … in 51 playoff games (33 starts) holds averages of 10.2 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 apg and 1.18 spg in 29.2 mpg while shooting .467 from the floor, .268 from three and .619 from the free-throw line ... owns seven career playoff double-doubles."
Young was not playing a big role in Toronto, but it would be interesting to see if that changes with Brooklyn.
