It has been a quiet time for Georgia Tech so far in the transfer portal, but that might be about to change.

Javian McCollum, one of the top players in the Transfer Portal and the leading scorer for Oklahoma last season, received a 247Sports Crystal Ball to land at Georgia Tech today from top 247 Sports Basketball analyst Travis Branham. McCollum entered the transfer portal two days ago and is already being predicted to land with Damon Stoudamire's program.

Last season, McCollum led the Sooners in scoring after transferring in from Siena, averaging 13.3 PPG in 31 minutes per game. Oklahoma was a contender all season long to make the NCAA Tournament (you could argue they should have been in) and McCollum was a big reason why. Last season, he shot 40% from the field and 31% from three. His best season statistically at the collegiate level came in 2022-2023 when he averaged 15.9 PPG in 31 minutes while shooting 43% from the field and 36% from three. He also averaged nearly four assists in each of the last two seasons.

Georgia Tech has lost three players to the transfer portal so far (Amaree Abram, Tyzhaun Claude, and Ebenezer Dowuona) and are also losing Kyle Sturdivant.

This would obviously be a huge addition to the roster. McCollum has shown an ability to be a top-scoring option for a team that would bring a veteran presence to the locker room and program. Georgia Tech is bringing in one of the ACC's best recruiting classes on top of returning top freshmen Nait George and Baye Ndongo, but they need some veteran leadership. It is tough to win just relying solely on young talent and bringing someone like McCollum in would solve some things for Georgia Tech. He was an All-Big-12 Honorable Mention last season.

It should be said that just because a team receives a crystal ball pick, does not mean that the player is coming, it is just a prediction. The momentum seems to be there, but Stoudamire and his staff still have to close this recruitment out.
