Here is What ESPN's BPI is Saying About Georgia Tech's Matchup With Florida State
It is Senior Day at McCamish Pavillion and Georgia Tech is going to try and send its seniors out with a home win against Florida State. The Yellow Jackets lost their previous matchup this season with the Seminoles, but they will try to win their first back-to-back ACC games of the year. Georgia Tech went on the road and upset Miami last week.
Vegas thinks that this will be a close game and ESPN's BPI agrees.
But what is BPI? Here is how ESPN describes it:
"The Basketball Power Index (BPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of performance going forward. BPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Strength of Record (SOR) is a measure of team accomplishment based on how difficult a team's W-L record is to achieve. Game predictions account for opponent strength, pace of play, site, travel distance, day's rest and altitude, and are used to simulate the season 10,000 times to produce season projections. Numbers update daily."
ESPN's BPI is giving Florida State a 59% chance to win today's game.
Georgia Tech will honor six senior members of its program Saturday prior to the tipoff of its game against Florida State - three players and three managers.
Guard Kyle Sturdivant, a four-year member of the program after transferring from Southern California, will play his final home game along with forward Tyzhaun Claude and guard Carter Murphy, both graduate transfers.
Also honored Saturday will be managers Alex Gaynor of Boca Raton, Fla., Ankith “A.K.” Kodali of Raleigh, N.C., and Wyatt Pangan of Austin, Texas.
Miles Kelly (14.8 ppg) leads three Yellow Jackets averaging in double figures this season, including freshman forward Baye Ndongo (11.7) and junior guard Kowacie Reeves, Jr. (10.2). Tech’s other rotation player averaged between 4.8 and 8.9 points per game.
Georgia Tech has won four of the last six games in the series, but the Seminoles took the first of two scheduled meetings this season with an 82-71 decision on Jan. 3 in Tallahassee.
