Updated ACC Basketball Standings: Is North Carolina the Team to Beat?
There is only one remaining unbeaten in the ACC.
North Carolina looks like they are starting to round into form and the Tar Heel blew out Syracuse yesterday. It is college basketball so anything can happen, but it could be a while before North Carolina takes a loss. Their upcoming schedule includes Louisville, Boston College, Wake Forest, Florida State and Georgia Tech. Wake Forest is a tough opponent, but there is an outside chance of UNC getting to their first matchup with Duke unbeaten in ACC play.
After North Carolina, there are four 4-1 teams that are trying to position themselves as the biggest challenger to North Carolina. Duke, Florida State, NC State, and Wake Forest are all playing well right now.
Duke survived an upset bid from Georgia Tech yesterday and has the longest winning streak in the conference at eight games. The Blue Devils next game is next Saturday vs Pitt.
NC State suffered their first conference loss at the hands of the Tar Heels and Wake Forest had its long winning streak snapped vs Flordia State. The Seminoles have been playing well since the calendar turned to 2024.
Miami is 3-2 in ACC play and had a strange week. The Hurricanes lost a shocker to Louisville, but did have a strong win vs Virginia Tech last night.
Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Syracuse are all 2-3 and Notre Dame is 2-4. The Cavaliers and Tigers are the most disappointing in this group, as they were thought to be legitimate contenders in the ACC.
Boston College, Pitt, Georgia Tech, and Louisville are all 1-4 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets travel to Clemson on Tuesday.
