Where Does Georgia Tech WBB Fall in ESPN's Latest Bracketology?
It is never too early to start speculating about the NCAA Tournament and Georgia Tech will be trying to make its third straight appearance in the tournament and advance. After a disappointing first-round exit against Kansas a year ago, head coach Nell Fortner and her team are hoping to get back and make it further this year.
So where do the Yellow Jackets fall in the early projections for this year's NCAA Tournament?
There are some changes to this year's NCAA Tournament. This is from ESPN:
"The women's NCAA tournament will undergo significant change for the second consecutive season. The field expanded to 68 teams last year. This season, the customary four regional sites have been reduced to two: Seattle and Greenville, South Carolina. The top 16 teams will continue to host the first and second rounds, and the First Four games will again be played at the site of the first-round games to which they feed. Defending champion South Carolina is the heavy favorite, and the Gamecocks seek to become the first repeat champions since UConn in 2015-16. The Final Four is on March 31 and April 2 at American Airlines Center in Dallas."
The earliest projections have Georgia Tech heading to Bloomington (IN) as a 10 seed and taking on Villanova, the seven seed. They are in the Seattle region and Stanford is the projected one seed in this bracket.
Villanova is currently 3-0 and has a win over 24th-ranked Princeton.
Indiana is the projected two-seed in this bracket.
The Yellow Jackets are off to a 3-0 start and are coming off a win against Auburn. Georgia Tech is going to be facing rival Georgia at home on Sunday, with the tip-off being 2:00.
