2025 Edge Rusher and Georgia Tech Target Chad Woodfork Announces Top 9
Georgia Tech is a finalist for one of their top defensive targets in the 2025 recruiting class.
Four-star Edge Chad Woodfork, who plays at Summer Creek High School in Texas, announced his top nine schools on social media Wednesday. His other eight finalists are USC, Georgia, Baylor, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas. Woodfork holds 20 offers currently before he nailed down his list.
According to 247sports Composite, Woodfork is a four-star player and ranked No. 42 nationally, the No. 6 Edge rusher, and the No. 9 player in Texas. Woodfork stands at 6'4 and 220 pounds and possesses an elite first step that allows him to beat most offensive tackles in the first few seconds of the snap.
Although he battled injury in 2023, he still finished his junior season with 33 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three sacks, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. He led Summer Creek to a 14-1 record and the state championship appearance this past season.
He is also really good at containing the edge and making tackles in open space against running backs. He also has great power and speed off the edge. When he gets to the quarterback, he is not looking to only make a sack but to get the ball back to his offense. His Hudl film shows his relentless pursuit to the football even when he is unable to get there initially.
He is also great at jarring the ball loose and creating turnovers. He is a major impact player on the defensive side of the ball.

So far Woodfork has only visited hometown teams in his recruiting in Texas and Texas Tech. He picked up an offer from Georgia Tech in November, and they remain strong candidates on his list of college teams.
