Look: Brent Key Makes Stops to See Top 2025 Targets Today
The month of January is huge for recruiting in college football and the work never really stops. After hosting prospects at another junior day, Georgia Tech's staff was out on the trail recruiting today, and head coach Brent Key made some critical stops.
One of the first stops of the day for Key was to see 2025 tight end Cayman Reynolds, who plays at Sonoraville High School in Georgia. Reynolds holds another offer from Michigan State and the 6'4 220 LBS tight end got a visit from the leader of Georgia Tech's program.
Another visit that Key made today was to former four-star Georgia commit Tae Harris, who took a visit to The Flats this month.
On the 247Sports Composite, Harris is rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 221 prospect in the country, the No. 27 cornerback, and the No. 28 prospect in the state of Georgia. He plays at Cedartown High School in Georgia and also has offers from Colorado, Florida, LSU, Miami, Tennessee, and UCF, among others.
Key and his staff are going to hope to put together a strong 2025 class to follow up the strong finish they had to their 2024 class. Getting a talented player like Harris would be a heck of a start.
Here are some stats and info on Harris courtesy of 247Sports:
"Also runs track. Took 10th at GHSA 4A meet as a sophomore in the 100-meter dash. Owns times of 10.73, 10.86 (-0.5), 10.90, 10.99, 11.01 and 11.03 in the event.
2022: Two-way player at Cedartown, which played for a Peach State AAAA title. Registered 59 tackles, 5 PBU and 2 INT on defense while adding 12-280-3 rushing and 4-92-2 receiving on offense."
Other recruiting news concerning Georgia Tech was about five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham.
Cunningham has been pursued by Georgia Tech for some time and has the Yellow Jackets in his top 12 schools that he listed today on his social media.
Mississippi State, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida State, and Oklahoma are the other schools that make up his top 12.
Cunningham is a multi-sport athlete and will be one of the most highly-coveted prospects in the upcoming class. He has great size and frame (6'3 180 LBS) that he will grow into and he has all the traits of a top receiver prospect.
The offer list for him is extensive. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, and Tennessee are some of the offers that Cunningham holds.
Here is his scouting report and some stats and info courtesy of 247Sports Analyst Gabe Brooks and Andrew Ivins:
"Unverified size and athleticism, but clearly possesses physical traits and excellent functional athleticism on tape. Know less about him than most other wideouts in the class, but definitely aware that he's a dynamic basketball player with big production on the hardwood. Translates body control and bounce to ball-winning mismatch effectiveness at wideout. Unstoppable in red-zone situations. Strong-handed in traffic. Runs hard in run-after-catch situations and bowls his way through arm tackles. Long-striding gait that creates necessity for build-up speed. Natural route sense and spatial awareness. Question the top-end athlete from speed and lateral perspectives relative to others in the class, though athletic profile is admittedly excellent with the hoops context. Projects as a high-major impact player with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft consideration."
"Also plays basketball and competes in track and field.Finished sophomore basketball season averaging 20.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game.Mississippi 2A state qualifier as a freshman in the long jump and triple jump. Posted season bests in Spring 2022 of 21-7.25 and 43-4.25, respectively. Also recorded a 6-0 high jump.Finished freshman varsity basketball season averaging 16.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.1 blocks. Was named Mississippi Region 4-2A MVP as a sophomore after averaging 20.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks."
2022: As a sophomore, got two-way snaps and caught 45 passes for 443 yards and 6 TDs (12.7 avg). Helped Choctaw County make third round of Mississippi’s 2A playoffs.2021: As a freshman, produced 31-569-10 receiving (18.4 avg). Added 14 tackles on defense."
