Only nine exits separate Rodney Colton from the Flats.

This past Tuesday, Georgia Tech hosted the No. 2 rated linebacker in 2026 per On3, and in his words, "I will most definitely be back," he said.

If you haven't watched his film, Colton is a pleasant mix between the old-school linebacker who will strike fear in any ball carrier and a new-age hybrid linebacker who can play his run fits very well and is fluid enough to cover tight ends and running backs in space. Depending on his further development, he could possibly be able to cover receivers.

Coming out of the Ross Elite Academy during his middle school summer ball tenure, Rodney has benefitted from being under the tutelage of one of the best defensive back trainers in the nation, Aaron Ross.

In his hometown of Newnan, GA, Rodney set the stage for himself being a dominant middle schooler who played quarterback alongside his defensive responsibilities. Colton has also been talked about as the closet thing to fellow Newnan native, former 1st round NFL draftee, Alec Ogletree.

Unlike Ogletree will he decide to dawn the Georgia Tech White and Gold over other collegiate colors?

Here is what he had to say when asked about that:

"I would love to play close home so my family and friends can see me play, and put on for the 404. I like it up there, but I do like to travel. But who knows, y'all might see me being a Yellow Jacket!"

Colton even elaborated on some recruits who were also on the visit who he'd love to play with.

"My guy, Kade Wigginton, from South Paulding and Josiah Smith, my right-hand man at Newnan on the dark side with me."

The thought of Rodney being an addition to the program that Brent Key is building has to be an exciting thought for Yellow Jackets fans.

"The relationship with me and Coach Stanucci is outstanding. I liked it when he asked jojo (Josiah Smith) and I to stand up and introduce ourselves and say something we want to accomplish in life and about my injury and how I'm doing now, before the LB meeting."

Concluding the visit Rodney, talked about what stood out the most during his stay.

"My favorite thing about the visit was how the campus isn't a local campus - it's 5 minutes to your next class. Also the coaching is excellent. I learned a couple of calls there," said Colton

This past season, Colton missed the majority of his season due to a knee injury; therefore the football world is still in the dark about the full gambit of his abilities.
