Updated ACC recruiting rankings: 8/25
The 2023 college football season is upon us.
August is finally winding down and some teams kick off their seasons tomorrow for week zero. The first ACC teams are in action on Thursday and the first conference game of the year will be next Friday when Georgia Tech takes on Louisville in Mercedes Benz Stadium.
While the action on the field is going to be taking the main stage now, how does each ACC team look in the recruiting rankings heading into September?
For the past couple of weeks, not much as changed at the top of the ACC recruiting rankings. Florida State remains on top and their 2024 class could get even better this weekend. One of the top safeties in the country, Zaquan Patterson, is set to announce his commitment tomorrow. Florida State is the favorite, but Miami, Auburn, and Michigan are lurking as well.
Clemson is holding strong as well at the No. 2 spot.
The team to watch this weekend in ACC recruiting (besides Florida State), would be Miami, who is still third. The Hurricanes are in the running for Patterson, as well as five-star defensive tackle David Stone. If Miami can get one or both of them, they will once again contend for the top class in the conference.
North Carolina and Georgia Tech round out the top five. The Yellow Jackets are still at 26 commitments, but the Tar Heels added to their class with three-star wide receiver Javarius Green (Shelby, NC).
Pitt, Virginia Tech, and Duke are 6-8 in the ACC. All three schools are not separated by much, but they are still a little bit behind Brent Key and Georgia Tech for the 5th spot.
NC State, Wake Forest, and Syracuse are No.9-11. NC State was the only school that picked up a commitment this week. Three-star offensive tackle Tyler West picked the Wolfpack over some other offers and gives Dave Doeren a development tackle for the future.
Louisville, Virginia, and Boston College round out the rest of the ACC.
