What are the Best Position Hauls for Georgia Tech in the 2024 Recruiting Class?

Georgia Tech finished strong during the Early Signing Period

Georgia Tech had one of the better finishes in the ACC on Early Signing Day. They got four-star running back Anthony Carrie to join the class and won that recruiting battle over Texas A&M, North Carolina, and Michigan State. Brent Key and his staff also flipped Amontrae Bradford from Colorado in one of their bigger wins on the recruiting trail.

This is Georgia Tech's highest-rated recruiting class since 2020 and it has a chance to be a part of the foundation that Key is trying to lay for this program. This program has some momentum after winning its first bowl game since 2016 last week and this recruiting class is a part of it.

So what positions did Georgia Tech recruit the best in this class?

1. Quarterback

Aaron Philo

Aaron Philo is one of two quarterbacks that signed with Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech signed not one, but two solid quarterbacks in the 2024 class. In the day and age of the transfer portal, you can't bring in enough talented arms. The Yellow Jackets coaching staff did just that with Aaron Philo and Graham Knowles and they have set themselves up to have talent in the quarterback room for the next few seasons.

Former Clemson quarterback and current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence's all-time record for passing yards by a quarterback in the State of Georgia was broken by Phiolo in the Class 1A, Division 1 State Championship Game between Prince Avenue Christian and Swainsboro.

Lawrence had the record of 13, 902 yards coming into the season, but Philo was within reach of getting the record and he did. He has been one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Georgia High School History and wrapped up his career at that level before he gets on The Flats and plays for Brent Key.

Knowles became the second quarterback in the Yellow Jackets class in June and has stuck with Georgia Tech in this recruiting process. Knowles played at Southlake Caroll High School in Texas and at 6'7 220 LBS, has the size, arm strength, and tools to be developed into a starting quarterback in the ACC. He is also a two-sport athlete who also plays basketball. Other offers that the Texas quarterback had were from UTSA, Memphis, Colorado State, and UConn

According to the 247Sports Composite, Knowles is a three-star player, the No. 834 player in the country, the No. 49 quarterback, and the No. 132 player in the state of Texas.

2. Offensive Line

Kai Greer

2024 Georgia Tech commit Kai Greer

Georgia Tech has brought in big offensive line classes in back-to-back years and you can tell that this is going to be a huge point of emphasis for this program going forward. The Yellow Jackets had one of the most improved offensive lines in the country in 2023 and have four starters returning for next season, giving this young group a chance to come in and develop. Key wanted size and power with this class and that is exactly what he got.

Kai Greer is ranked as the No. 567 player nationally on the 247Sports Composite, the No. 38 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 19 player in the state of North Carolina. He is a very intriguing player at 6'6 285 LBS and is a physical player up front. This is going to be a good piece up front for the future for Brent Key. He was once committed to Stanford and then Arkansas in this recruiting process.

On the 247Sports Composite, Floyd is a three-star prospect and the No. 834 player in the country, the No. 59 offensive tackle, and the No. 100 prospect in the state of Georgia.

Other offers that Floyd held include UCF, Kentucky, Florida State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pitt, and Tennessee, among others.

Jameson Riggs, who played at Hiram High School in Georgia, is one of five offensive linemen committed to Georgia Tech and for the past two cycles, it has been a position of emphasis for Geep Wade and Brent Key. Georgia Tech has prioritized size with their offensive line and at 6'4 300 LBS, Riggs checks that box and a lot more.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Riggs is a three-star player, the No. 674 player in the country, the No. 46 IOL, and the No. 79 player in the state of Georgia.

It was a huge recruiting win for Georgia Tech getting Riggs over Clemson and Auburn and I think with development, he will be a solid player for the Yellow Jackets in the future.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Harrison Moore is a three-star prospect and is ranked the No. 1225 player in the country, the No. 95 IOL, and the No. 178 player in the state of Texas. Also competes in track and field. Played tight end prior to his senior year. He recorded junior season-bests of 41-4 in the shot put and 115-1 in the discus in Spring 2023 (Per 247Sports).

According to the 247Sports Composite, Santana Alo-Tupuola is a three-star player and the No. 1424 player in the country, the No. 113 IOL, and the No. 185 player in the state of Florida.

Georgia Tech is well-positioned for the future with this offensive line class.

3. Edge

Georgia Tech did not bring in many defensive tackles in this class, but they did a good job of bringing in talent at edge rusher.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Amontrae Bradford is a three-star prospect, the No. 627 player nationally, the No. 41 defensive end, and the No. 73 player in the state of Georgia. Bradford had been committed to Colorado since October 9th. Other offers that Bradford holds are Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Nebraska, among others. He is an athletic edge player that could make an impact sooner rather than later.

Jordan Boyd had other offers from Wake Forest, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Missouri, among others.

Boyd is an athletic edge played at 6'3 215 LBS and he is only going to continue growing into his frame. This could be a big steal and I think Boyd is going to be an impact player at some point in the future for Georgia Tech.

Uche Iloh is a 6'6 245 LBS defensive end with a lot of athleticism and he could be an impact player on the defensive line down the road. Georgia Tech beat out fellow ACC Schools Louisville and Virginia for his commitment. Other offers that he had include Air Force, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Iowa State, James Madison, Marshall, Memphis, Minnesota, Missouri, NC State, Ole Miss, and West Virginia, among others.
