2023 Bowl Projections: Where is Georgia Tech projected to play going into week 12?

Georgia Tech is trying to make its first bowl game since 2018.

Georgia Tech still needs one more win to get to bowl eligibility, but the projections are still rolling in for the Yellow Jackets to play in their first bowl game since 2018.

Looking at the ESPN Bowl Projections, they have a pair of interesting games that Georgia Tech could play in.

One projection has the Yellow Jackets going to Dallas to play in the First Responders Bowl against Texas Tech. The other projection has Brent Key's team going to New York City to play Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl, which is played at Yankee Stadium.

Texas Tech is currently 5-5 after a big upset win over Kansas and the Red Raiders still need to win one more game to clinch bowl eligibility. They play UCF this weekend and finish their season with a primetime matchup on Black Friday against Texas. It has been a bit of a disappointing season in Lubbock, with Texas Tech being thought of as a possible Big 12 title contender before the season. These programs have met twice all-time (1965 and 1970), with Georgia Tech winning both games.

Georgia Tech and Rutgers have only played once before and it was 102 years ago. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Scarlet Knights 48-14 in Atlanta in 1921. Rutgers is having a good season under Greg Schiano and they are currently 6-4.

ESPN is not the only site that is projecting Georgia Tech to face Rutgers in Yankee Stadium. CBS Sports and Brett McMurphy of the Action network have Georgia Tech going to the Big Apple to play the Scarlet Knights.

247 Sports has a different destination in mind for Georgia Tech. In their projection, the Yellow Jackets will play in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville against the Auburn Tigers, who clinched bowl eligibility this weekend after beating Arkansas. That would be an interesting matchup of first-year head coaches. Auburn leads the all-time series between the two programs 47-41, but Georgia Tech has won the last two matchups against the Tigers in 2005 and 2003.

First things first for Georgia Tech, they have to clinch a spot in the post-season first. They will have an opportunity to do just that this weekend against Syracuse, a game in which they are favored by six points.

Georgia Tech vs Syracuse kicks off at 8:00 p.m. on the ACC Network this Saturday.
