2023 Bowl Projections: Where is Georgia Tech projected to play going into week ten?
Georgia Tech flip-flops each week on whether they are on track to make a bowl game.
After losing to Bowling Green, it looked like the Yellow Jackets were a surefire pick to miss one, but they rebounded and won in crazy fashion against Miami the next week. After the bye week, Georgia Tech lost to Boston College as a favorite and looked like they were going to be a longshot to get to the postseason, but they were able to handle North Carolina and rack up over 600 yards in the process. Now, Georgia Tech is back in the bowl projections and there have been some interesting matchups being suggested.
One that has been frequent in recent projections is sending Georgia Tech to the Military Bowl. In the latest projections from the Action Network's Brett McMurphy, He has the Yellow Jackets playing in the Military Bowl against Navy. Georgia Tech and Navy have met 25 times before, but not since the 2001 season, and Georgia Tech won that game 70-7.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach has Georgia Tech going to Charlotte to play in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against the Florida Gators. The Gators are 5-3 and coming off of a blowout loss to Georgia over the weekend, but have had a pretty decent season under Billy Napier. Florida and Georgia Tech have not met since 1981, but do have plenty of history. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series 23-9.
Perhaps the most interesting Bowl Projection came from 247Sports and it sent Georgia Tech to Boston to play in the Fenway Bowl to face Tulane. Tulane head coach Willie Fritz was a candidate for the Georgia Tech job before Key was hired.
Obviously, there are still four weeks of regular season football left and these bowl projections are largely meaningless, but it does say something in my opinion that Georgia Tech is projected to go to one after not being there in the preseason. A good step forward for this program would be getting to a bowl game this season.
