ACC Football: Predictions for Every Week 12 Game
Only two weeks remain in the regular season for the ACC.
The conference title picture is pretty clear at this point. Florida State has already clinched a spot and controls its destiny for a spot in the college football playoff. Louisville can clinch a spot on Saturday if they beat Miami or if North Carolina loses to Clemson. If Louisville loses and North Carolina wins, chaos will ensue.
Other teams are going to be fighting for a spot in a bowl game. The winner of Georgia Tech vs Syracuse will make a bowl game, while Wake Forest needs to pull a massive upset against Notre Dame to stay alive. Virginia Tech is one win away from a bowl game, but they will need to beat a stingy NC State defense.
So who wins the ACC's biggest games this weekend?
Note: I will provide a full breakdown and preview of Georgia Tech vs Syracuse later this week.
Thursday, Nov. 16th
Boston College at Pitt (-3) (7:00 ESPN)
No that is not a typo. 2-8 Pitt is favored over 6-4 Boston College. That goes to show that while Boston College is improved, they are still not considered a good team by the oddsmakers. Still, there is no way I can trust Pitt, even at home. Thomas Castellanos finds a way for Boston College to get their seventh win of the season.
Final Score: Boston College 28, Pitt 24
Saturday, Nov. 18th
Louisville (-1) at Miami (12:00 ABC)
The Cardinals are in the ACC Championship if they can find a way to beat the Hurricanes on Saturday. Miami fought hard against FSU on Saturday but came up short and lost freshman quarterback Emory Williams in the process and Tyler Van Dyke is going to have to take the field again. Louisville played a close game against Virginia last week, but found a way to survive and get to 9-1. In the past, Miami has not played well after losing a hard-fought game to FSU and Van Dyke has been a turnover machine recently. Louisville has a good defense and will limit the Hurricanes while creating just enough offense to win in South Florida.
Final Score: Louisville 24, Miami 14
Duke (-4.5) at Virginia (3:00 CW Network)
Duke nearly got the upset against North Carolina on Saturday, but lost in multiple overtimes. Virginia almost got an upset of their own by beating Louisville and the Cavaliers have played well over the last month outside of a game against Georgia Tech. I think Duke is the better coached team in this game and I trust their defense to get the job done against the Cavaliers.
Final Score: Duke 27, Virginia 13
North Carolina at Clemson (-6.5) (3:30 ABC)
Clemson has found momentum in the last weeks by thumping both Notre Dame and Georgia Tech and the defense in particular is playing well. Cade Klubnik threw for four touchdowns last week and the running game is also moving nicely. North Carolina got the win over Duke last Saturday, but they have not been playing well. The North Carolina offense vs the Clemson defense is a good matchup to watch, but Clemson will get the best of them in the end.
Final Score: Clemson 38, North Carolina 28
NC State at Virginia Tech (-2.5) (3:30 ACC Network)
NC State has been winning games with its defense lately, but they will have their hands full against Virginia Tech and quarterback Kyron Drones. The Hokies put up 48 points last week and Drones threw for over 200 while rushing for over 100. Brent Pry has this team playing well, but the Wolfpack defense is a different test. Dave Doeren plays well as an underdog and I think they get the win in Blacksburg on Saturday.
Final Score: NC State 20, Virginia Tech 17
North Alabama at Florida State (6:30 CW Network)
Nothing much to say here. Florida State will win by however much they choose and the main thing for them will be to get out of this game healthy before a matchup with Florida.
Final Score: FSU 59, North Alabama 0
