Everything From Georgia Tech Offensive Tackle Jordan Williams After Yellow Jackets Latest Spring Practice
Another week of spring practice is underway for Georgia Tech and the Yellow Jackets are rolling towards their annual White and Gold Spring Game.
Unlike some recent years, Georgia Tech goes into the spring knowing they have one of the best offensive lines in the ACC and bring back the majority of guys that played major snaps last year. The O-Line is going to be a big strength for the team this year and they guy who will be one of the leaders up front is Jordan Williams, who is back at right tackle. Williams has had to show his versatility over his time at Georgia Tech, bouncing back and forth between guard and tackle, but he was the right tackle for one of the best offenisve lines in the ACC last year.
After practice on Tuesday, Williams met with the media and here is everything that he had to say.
1. On how much easier it is for him with the entire offensive coaching staff back...
"Oh, no, that definitely feel good. Everybody, it feel like good confidence already. Everybody got good confidence, and... Well, yeah, got good confidence in the offense. Everybody playing fast, and it's pretty much like, yeah, not really nothing new so that's a good thing going into a new year and then for any of the guards is coming up trying to get that starting spot that makes it a lot easier on them too so you got that and it's pretty much you don't got to learn anything but usually the same assignments and everything so you already know what your eyes need to be in there all that and it's all good it's definitely good."
2. On what he is seeing from the guards...
"Uh, you got, I played, I played next, I played next to Ben and uh, Ethan, Mackenny, and they both, they both doing a real good job, both really on showing, showing what they can do out of the position, and Ethan, Ethan's doing a great job learning it, and I think, I think he'll be a good guard if he continues."
3. On if he thinks about his NFL future and what he needs to do to get there and if he talks about it with Brent Key and Geep Wade...
"Yeah, I've been talking to both of them body and they every time every time both of them always tell me me, they gonna make sure I'm in the best position possible for my future and everything. So, you know, that's always good to hear and always knowing that they gonna take care of you, making sure you're getting to where you want to be."
4. On Coach Wade...
"He really, he demands, he demands you to go out there and do your best every day. He did it, demands you to be out there and playing physical, playing fast. fast, knowing what you got to do. And that's really everything you want from a coach right now. And you really just want to be able to have a coach that has the confidence in the whole group to always be able to go out there and get the job done. And that's a coach who will always have confidence in our group."
5. On his goals for the spring...
"Yeah, it's really, really clean up some techniques, cleaning up like foot placement, hand placement on blocks, making sure I'm getting my landmark and stuff. You got all that and then you got my hand placement pass pro and everything. That's that's another thing I want to get down this spring."
6. On the young tackles...
"Oh, they both, they both doing good. Riggs, I call him Wrigley. I don't know where I think they came from, I just call him that, but Wrigley doing real good. He actually impressed me a lot. Who out there really impressed me? You got Wrigley, Harrison Moore, he played a little good. little bit of tackle. He could, he could play on five. He gonna be good. Tana, Tana hit a dog. Tana a dog. Tana gonna be good. Tana gonna be good. Uh, there you go right there. Uh, and then you got, and then you got, uh, and then you got Jordan Floyd. Jordan Floyd gonna be good. He gonna be good too. He got, he got a lot of sides on him, and he, he good. He good at running. He can run, so that's definitely gonna come and play in the run game in the future."
