Georgia Tech Releases Depth Chart for Matchup With Georgia
Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is five days away and for the first time since 2018, Georgia Tech is going into their matchup with their arch-rivals with a winning record.
With their win over Syracuse last week, Georgia Tech clinched bowl eligibility, but now they have to turn their attention to their biggest challenge yet this season. Georgia comes into this game ranked No. 1 in the country and looking to make a run to the college football playoff, but Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets would love nothing more than to ruin the 28-game winning streak that Georgia has going.
Today, Georgia Tech released its depth chart ahead of the rivalry matchup and there are no changes to it.
Haynes King comes into this game as one of the top quarterbacks in the ACC and he will have to have a great game on Saturday to give the Yellow Jackets a chance. His dual-threat ability will play a crucial role for Georgia Tech on Saturday night.
The running back spot continues to be between Dontae Smith, Jamal Haynes, and Trey Cooley, but Haynes is the leading ball carrier for Georgia Tech, with Smith being the primary backup.
At receiver, Malik Rutherford is listed as a starter, while the other two have "or" designations between them. Dominick Blaylock (former Bulldog) or Abdul Janneh will start on one side while either Eric Singleton Jr or Chase Lane will start at the other. Expect Singleton and Blaylock to be the main guys.
Dylan Leonard is listed as the starting tight end and he was named a permanent team captain on Wednesday according to Key. Brett Seither (former Bulldog) and Luke Benson will also see snaps.
The offensive line has been one of the most improved units in the entire country, but they will have their hands full on Saturday with a talented Georgia front seven. Ethan Mackenny, Joe Fusile, Weston Franklin, Connor Scaglione, and Jordan Williams are listed as the starters.
On the defensive line, Makius Scott is listed as the starter at end, Zeek Biggers and D'Quan Douse will be on the interior, and either Kyle Kennard or Kevin Harris will be at the rush spot.
Paul Moala and Trenilyas Tatum are listed as the starters at linebacker, but Kyle Efford and Braelen Oliver will see snaps. Efford notched 11 tackles and an interception against Syracuse and was named the ACC linebacker of the week.
In the secondary, Myles Sims and Ahmari Harvey are listed as the starting corners, while K.J. Wallace is at nickel. LaMiles Brooks is listed as the starting strong safety while either Jaylon King or Clayton Powell-Lee will be at the other safety spot.
Aidan Birr is the starting kicker while David Shanahan is the punter.
Georgia Tech vs Georgia kicks off on Saturday at 7:30 on ABC.
