Georgia Tech took on No. 1 Georgia in primetime last weekend and it was one of the most watched games in the country.

The game averaged 5.33 Million viewers, which was 4th for the weekend and close to third. Ohio State vs Michigan topped the weekend with their huge game and it was followed by Alabam vs Auburn and Washington vs Washington State.

It was a much closer game than most anticipated. Georgia Tech took an early 7-0 lead after a Georgia turnover and it turned into a close game the rest of the half. The Bulldogs led 21-13 at the half and in the second half, it looked like Georgia was going to pull away. A redzone interception and then a touchdown pulled the score to 31-23 and it looked like the Yellow Jackets might have a window to win. The onside kick failed though and then Georgia picked up the first down and the game was over.

Now, Georgia Tech will wait and see where they will play in a bowl game, their first time making a bowl game since 2018.

247Sports gave a new projection that has Georgia Tech going to Annapolis, MD to play SMU. SMU is playing in the AAC title and if they win, they could even be a contender for a New Year's Six game. They are a really good team, but quarterback Preston Stone was injured in last week's win over Navy and is out for the rest of the season.

The other projection came from The Athletic and it sent Georgia Tech to the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa and they will be playing UCF. That of course would be an interesting bowl game and a matchup that fans are familiar with. The two programs met last season and that loss would be the final game that Geoff Collins would coach at Georgia Tech. UCF went 6-6 in their first season in the Big 12 but did have some signature wins, like a 45-3 blowout over Oklahoma State. This would be a high-scoring game and a much more convenient trip for GT fans than New York.
