Canada and Slovenia meet in a star-studded matchup in the quarterfinal round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

The Canadians, led by All-NBA guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, look to advance to the semifinal round for the first time against fellow tournament MVP frontrunner Luka Doncic and a Slovenian team off the heels of a disappointing loss to close out the second round.

Canada fell flat in an upset loss to Brazil before a thrilling comeback against Spain. Gilgeous-Alexander (36 points) and Dillon Brooks (24 points) led the way as Canada qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time since 2000.

Former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout Kelly Olynyk has started in all five FIBA World Cup games for his home country, averaging 12 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. 

Meanwhile, Slovenia looks to bounce back from its 100-71 beatdown against Germany. The Slovenians jumped out to an early lead but were outscored 89-46 for the rest of the game. Doncic (26.4 points per game) leads the tournament in scoring.
