Adam Morrison thinks Gonzaga's Graham Ike should 'for sure' be 2024 WCC Player of the Year
The West Coast Conference Player of the Year race has come down to the final week of the regular season with multiple players in contention to earn the league's yearly honor.
Graham Ike has inserted himself into the conversation over the last five weeks or so, as the Gonzaga Bulldogs have won 11 of their last 12 games with their 6-foot-9 post leading the charge offensively.
In conference games, Ike is averaging 17.5 points (second-most in the WCC) while shooting 61.9% from the field (also second-best). The junior has scored 20 or more points in 13 games this season, including eight times in his last 10 outings. With Gonzaga riding a six-game win streak into a pivotal stretch at San Francisco and Saint Mary's, Ike could lock up the WCC Player of the Year award if he continues to dominate against the conference's best competition.
But there are plenty of other players in contention for the honor. Saint Mary's backcourt tandem of Aidan Mahaney and Augustas Marciulionis have the Gaels in the driver's seat, while San Francisco's Jonathan Mogbo is averaging a double-double to put the Dons in a position to potentially jump Gonzaga for the No. 2 spot in the league standings.
Former Gonzaga standout Robert Sacre joined Morrison and Dan Dickau on the latest episode of Talking Zags to discuss why the WCC award is Ike's to lose, the Bulldogs' upcoming matchups against the Gaels and Dons and much more. Watch the full episode in the video above.
