Could Gonzaga join the Big 12 within the next week?
The Big 12's flirtation with Gonzaga has been a back-and-forth game for almost a year now. But a renewed push to add the Bulldogs, spearheaded by league commissioner Brett Yormark, is looking like a very realistic possibility.
After publicly declaring that talks with Gonzaga had ended in August, Yormark lobbied for the Bulldogs' inclusion as soon as the 2024-25 season during Big 12 meetings last week in Dallas.
Conflicting reports have surfaced in the past few days. CBS Sports' Matt Norlander reported that the Zags have a "long-shot" to receive the necessary votes to join the conference in the near future. Soon after, it was reported that Yormark has "overwhelming support" from Big 12 athletic directors and presidents in his quest to add Gonzaga.
Regardless, there are plenty of logistics to sort out on both sides, and with the West Coast Conference media day on Thursday, the Zags' future in the league will be a hot topic.
