Creighton's Arthur Kaluma an intriguing option for Gonzaga in transfer portal
With the 60-day transfer portal entry window coming to a close, another potential transfer option for the Gonzaga men’s basketball program has decided to test the open market.
Former Creighton forward Arthur Kaluma is exploring other college options, while going through the NBA Draft process, he announced on Instagram Wednesday.
Kaluma’s main focus is the NBA Draft Combine and he will not make a college decision anytime soon, according to 247Sports Analyst Travis Branham.
The 6-foot-7 sophomore averaged 11.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, while helping Creighton reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last season. He scored at least 15 points eight times in 2022-23, including a career-high 27 points in a loss to BYU on Dec. 10.
Kaluma was a 4-star recruit out of high school and ranked as the No. 51 overall player in the 2021 class.
It would not be surprising to see Gonzaga head coach Mark Few reach out to Kaluma, who comes from the same program as recent transfer signee Ryan Nembhard.
Nembhard is a part of the fifth-best transfer class per 247Sports, but Few and his assistants still have roster spots to fill. Three Zags have transferred and five have declared for the NBA Draft this offseason.
