Croatian Luka Krajnovic commits to Gonzaga men's basketball

The Zags add another international star

The Gonzaga men's basketball program added more talent on Saturday, getting a commitment from Croatian star Luka Krajnovic.

Krajnovic made the announcement on social media.

A 6-foot-4 shooting guard, Krajnovic competed in the Croatian A-1 Liga in the 2022-23 season, averaging 17.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 34 games with KK Bosch Zagreb. He also shot 52.7% from the field and 29.1% from behind the arc on nearly three attempts per game.

Krajnovic, 19, has three years of experience competing on the international level, as he represented Croatia in the FIBA U18 European Championship in 2022. Over the course of seven games, he averaged 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. It was a vast improvement from when his introduction to FIBA play at 16 years old when he appeared in just two games.

Upon officially joining Gonzaga, Krajnovic will be the fifth Croatian player in college basketball next season, joining Ante Beljan (Little Rock), Grgur Brcic (Toldeo), Ante Brzovic (Charleston), Zvonimir Ivisic (Kentucky) and Igor Milicic Jr. (Charlotte).

Outside of FIBA play, Krajnovic's first taste of professional play was in 2021-22 with KK Cibona of the A-1 Liga. Appearing in nine games, he put up 5.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 17 minutes per game. He gradually improved his feel for the game over time, and it showed when he made the Belgrade All-Tournament Team later that season.

Krajnovic's commitment brings Gonzaga down to one open scholarship for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The Zags flipped Kansas transfer and four-star recruit Marcus Adams Jr. on July 23.
