Doug Gottlieb: Gonzaga's Mark Few is a 'godfather' among college basketball coaches
The Gonzaga men's basketball program has had quite the run under head coach Mark Few.
Over his 24 seasons at the helm, the Bulldogs have dominated the West Coast Conference with 22 regular season titles and 19 conference tournament championships. Few has become a regular at the NCAA Tournament, with 12 Sweet 16 appearances, five trips to the Elite Eight and two national championship game appearances. He's brought in and developed quite the talent pool over the last quarter century, as he's coached 21 All-Americans and 17 WCC Players of the Year.
The consistency has been off the charts, as Few will enter the 2023-24 season as the winningest active coach by percentage at .836 (688-135). He has the most consecutive 20-win seasons of any coach with 24, having never lost more than 11 games in one season. Gonzaga's ascension as a Cinderella team turned into a national hoops powerhouse is one of the greatest stories in American sports, and Few has been the maestro in control of it all.
Fox Sports analyst Doug Gottlieb broke down why he believes Few is one of the best coaches in college basketball on a new episode of the Gonzaga Nation podcast.
