Drew Timme was officially waived by the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Following two preseason games with the team, the former Gonzaga men's basketball star was waived along with guards Jazian Gortman and Omari Moore, putting Milwaukee's roster at 18 players with less than a week before the 2023-24 NBA season tips off.

Under NBA waiver rules, teams have 48 hours to claim Timme. If he goes unclaimed, the Bucks could still elect to assign Timme to their NBA G League squad, the Wisconsin Herd.

Timme signed with the Bucks as an undrafted free agent less than 24 hours after last summer's NBA Draft. The Exhibit 10 contract guaranteed him a roster spot for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where Timme averaged 4.3 points and 2.5 rebounds across four appearances with the team. He shot 7-for-15 from the field and knocked down one 3-pointer.

The counting numbers weren't like the gaudy stats he put up at Gonzaga, but it was enough for the Bucks to sign Timme to a two-way contract in August. Timme's first official NBA contract could still land him with the Bucks' G-League squad, the Wisconsin Herd, for the majority of the 2023-24 season. Following the Damian Lillard trade, the Bucks had an extra spot on the main roster.

Timme scored three points on 1-for-3 shooting from the field in his two NBA preseason games, with his only field goal being a go-ahead layup in his debut against the Chicago Bulls. The 6-foot-10 Texan was held scoreless in his final appearance against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, though he was the only Bucks player who posted a positive plus/minus ratio in the 124-101 loss.

A three-time All-American, Timme averaged 17.2 points and 6.7 rebounds over his four-year career with the Bulldogs and was a finalist for both the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy during his senior season. He is Gonzaga's all-time leading scorer with 2,307 points and his 301 points in NCAA Tournament games rank sixth-most in history. For his efforts, Timme was awarded back-to-back WCC Player of the Year awards in 2012-22 and 2022-23.
