Drew Timme won't return to Gonzaga next season: ‘I’m moving on’
Drew Timme confirmed he doesn't plan to exercise his fifth year of eligibility at Gonzaga in an interview with The Athletic's Seth Davis released on Monday.
“I’ve done my four years,” Timme told Davis after leading the Zags past Saint Mary's on Saturday. “I’m a senior, and I’m moving on.”
Davis asked Timme if there was a dollar amount in NIL money that could lure him back to campus, to which he responded “Why don’t we say $100 million?”
The senior forward declared for the 2022 NBA Draft after last season, but pulled his name out on the night of the deadline for early-entree players.
In his final year as a Zag, Timme is averaging 21.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, all career highs.
He had 19 points and six rebounds in Gonzaga's 77-68 win over Saint Mary's, which gave both teams shared claim of the West Coast Conference regular-season title.
Saint Mary's was awarded the No. 1 seed in the upcoming WCC Tournament, with the league using the NCAA Evaluation Tool as a tiebreaker. The Gaels (25-6, 14-2 WCC) are No. 7 in the NET, while the Zags (25-5, 14-2 WCC) were ranked 9th.
