Bulldogs open as 14.5-point favorites over the Broncos

The Gonzaga Bulldogs ride a five-game winning streak into a major West Coast Conference clash against the Santa Clara Broncos.

Gonzaga (21-6, 11-2 WCC) took down Portland, 86-65, in its last matchup but failed to cover the 22-point spread. The Bulldogs are 12-14 against the spread this season according to covers.com and have failed to cover in their last two games after a three-game win streak against the spread. Gonzaga is 7-6 ATS in WCC games and 6-7 in home games.

Graham Ike leads the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game on 61.6% shooting from the field. The 6-foot-9 post had 20 points and 14 rebounds against the Pilots, his fourth-straight 20-point game and his 10th of the season. It was also Ike's seventh double-double of the season.

Nolan Hickman is averaging 17.2 points over his last five games on 52.7% shooting from the floor and 51.5% from behind the arc. The junior has knocked down four 3-pointers in three straight games, a feat last accomplished by Corey Kispert in 2021.

Gonzaga is 16-0 when it scores 80 or more points this season and 15-0 when it shoots 50% from the field.

Santa Clara (18-10, 9-4 WCC) rides a three-game winning streak into Spokane following a 65-55 win over Loyola Marymount on Saturday, resulting in a push after it was favored by 10 points heading into the matchup. The Broncos are 15-10-2 ATS after they covered in seven of their previous eight games before the Lions game. Santa Clara is 10-2-1 ATS in WCC games and 7-3-1 on the season as the underdogs.

Adama-Alpha Bal leads the squad with 14.6 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field. The junior was held scoreless against the Lions on Saturday after missing the previous three games with an undisclosed injury. Bal had 17 points and the game-winning layup in the 77-76 win over the Bulldogs last month.

Johnny O'Neil has stepped up offensively with 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in the three games without Bal and had 15 points and nine rebounds against LMU.
