Gonzaga looks to slow down explosive USF Dons offense: 'San Francisco might be the most difficult team in the league to guard'

Bulldogs head to the Chase Center for a monumental clash against the Dons

The West Coast Conference's top two scoring offenses take center stage at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday when the Gonzaga Bulldogs look to hold their position in the No. 2 spot in the league standings against the San Francisco Dons.

Gonzaga (22-6, 12-2 WCC) has been near unstoppable on the offensive end of the floor during its six-game win streak, as its averaging 93.0 points on 55.6% shooting from the floor since its last loss to Saint Mary's on Feb. 3. In that time, the Bulldogs have gone from 33rd in the country in offensive efficiency per KenPom to 10th after they beat Santa Clara, 94-81, in the final home game of the regular season.

Overall, Gonzaga leads the WCC in scoring at 86.1 points per game, followed by San Francisco at 79.0 points.

The Dons (22-7, 11-3 WCC) have won seven of their last eight games since losing to the Bulldogs in Spokane, 77-72, on Jan. 25. Jonathan Mogbo has slowed in his production as of late, though the 6-foot-8 beast still does a lot for San Francisco as a versatile offensive weapon who can score on the low block, take his defender off the dribble and dive toward the rim out of a pick-and-roll set. Chris Gerlufsen maximizes that skill set through many actions and sets, making the Dons one of the more intriguing matchups for the Bulldogs.
