Gonzaga men's basketball hosts Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 28

Roadrunners are fifth known home opponent of 2023-24 nonconference slate

Following the Maui Invitational, the Gonzaga men's basketball team will return to the mainland to host Cal State Bakersfield at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Nov. 28.

The Roadrunners are the 11th known game of Gonzaga's 2023-24 nonconference schedule and the fifth known opponent that will visit Spokane. The Zags' home opener is slated for Nov. 10 against Yale, followed by Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 11), Jackson State (Dec. 20) and San Diego State (Dec. 29).

Gonzaga is 4-0 all-time against Cal State Bakersfield, with the most recent win a 77-49 rout during the 2019-20 season. Five Zags - led by Filip Petrusev's 15 points - scored in double figures that night, as the team went 25-for-29 from the free throw line.

The previous four matchups in 2018, 2011 and 2010 all took place in Spokane.

The Roadrunners finished 11-22 overall last season for an eighth-place finish in the Big West Conference. Leading scorer Kaleb Higgins returns for his senior season, while Antavion Collum is also back as a junior.

Cal State Bakersfield will also travel to Los Angeles to play USC (Nov.9) before traveling to Berkeley for a matchup against Cal.

In addition to the Maui Invitational, the Zags will travel to Seattle on two separate occasions in December. They'll play Washington at Alaska Airlines Arena on Dec. 9 before heading to Climate Pledge Arena to play UConn on Dec. 15. The nonconference slate wraps up with a trip to Kentucky on Feb. 10.

A tip-off time and broadcasting details for the Zags-Roadrunners matchup have not been released yet.
