Gonzaga-Purdue rematch in Sweet 16? Predicting the Midwest Region bracket of the 2024 NCAA Tournament
Four months ago, the Gonzaga Bulldogs couldn't handle Zach Edey and hot shooting from the rest of the Purdue Boilermakers in a 76-63 loss at the Maui Invitational.
Now Matt Painter and Mark Few's programs are just two wins in the 2024 NCAA Tournament away from seeing each other again in the Sweet 16.
For Purdue, it will have to rectify last season's disappointing loss to 16-seed Fairleigh Dickinson if it's to reach the second weekend for the second time in the last three seasons. Edey is coming off a unanimous All-American campaign in which he averaged 24.4 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Should Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer and others continue to play at a high level, the Midwest Region's No. 1 seed can make a deep run in March.
