Gonzaga vs. UConn: Anton Watson, Ryan Nembhard need to have big games
The No. 10 Gonzaga Bulldogs have a big challenge on their hands Friday when they take on No. 5 UConn at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
The Huskies (9-1) have arguably looked better than last season's national championship squad. Donovan Clingan is an NBA-level talent as a 7-foot-3 post who erases just about everything at the rim defensively. Fifth-year senior Tristen Newton has played like an All-American, while Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer has elevated his game as a knockdown shooter who can do a little bit of everything else offensively. Add all the pieces together, and UConn boasts the No. 4-ranked offense in the country in terms of efficiency.
The Huskies have been near unstoppable, but there are still some cracks on the defensive end according to Rob Dauster of The Field of 68. If the Bulldogs are to pull off the upset in Seattle, Dauster believes it'll be through an up-tempo pace on offense that features Anton Watson and Ryan Nembhard exploiting their matchups.
