The No. 11 Gonzaga Bulldogs take on the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers to tip-off the 2023 Maui Invitational from Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Zags (2-0) enter the premier multiple-team event of the 2023-24 season on the heels of a historic victory over NAIA program Eastern Oregon on Tuesday. Three players finished with 20 or more points, paced by Graham Ike's 25 points, as Gonzaga set the program record for made field goals (52) and had the second-largest scoring output in the 123-57 victory. Redshirt freshman Braden Huff continued his hot start with 23 points on 11-for-14 shooting, while Anton Watson notched the third 20-point game of his career with 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Boilermakers (3-0) snapped their five-game losing skid against Xavier on Monday in a 12-point win to conclude the 2023 Gavitt Tipoff Games. Reigning Wooden Award winner Zach Edey paces the team in scoring with 20.7 points to go with 10.7 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Braden Smith chips in 11.7 points per game, followed by Southern Illinois transfer Lance Jones at 9.7 points per game.
The winner of Monday's matchup advances to face the winner of the No. 7 Tennessee/Syracuse matchup, while the loser moves into the consolation bracket.
