Loyola Marymount chases its first WCC victory of the season as it welcomes Saint Mary's to Los Angeles

Loyola Marymount will look to pick up its first conference victory of the season when the Lions host Saint Mary's in Los Angeles on Saturday. 

Saint Mary's enters this game as the favorite, but LMU picked up the overtime upset when they hosted the Gaels at Gersten Pavilion a year ago.

Saint Mary's (10-6, 1-0 WCC) defeated San Diego 81-70 in Thursday's WCC opener to pick up its 19th consecutive victory over the Toreros.

It was a strong game for the Gaels on both sides of the ball, as they shot nearly 53% from the field and came away with a season-high 13 steals. 

Sophomore Aidan Mahaney tied his career-high of 25 points, reaching that mark for the second time this season and the fourth time in his career. 

Junior Augustas Marciulionis also had a big game, registering his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. 

LMU (7-8, 0-1 WCC) got off to a hot start with an 8-0 lead in its WCC opener against Santa Clara on Thursday night, but poor shooting led to an eventual 68-57 loss. 

The Lions got plenty of open looks, but the shots just weren't falling as they finished 29.8 percent from the field and 14.3 percent from three-point range. 

Keli Leaupepe and Alex Merkviladze were the only two players to finish in double figures, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively.
