'I think we're ready for it': Adam Morrison previews Gonzaga at the Maui Invitational
Gonzaga men's basketball has been a part of some incredible multi-team events in recent memory, but no in-season tournament field compares to what awaits at the 2023 Maui Invitational.
The premier event of the college basketball season features five teams ranked in the AP Top 25 poll, four of which are in the top 10 — No. 1 Kansas, No. 2 Purdue, No. 4 Marquette, No. 7 Tennessee and No. 11 Gonzaga. UCLA, Syracuse and Chaminade round out the eight-team field.
The Bulldogs tip off the tough slate against the Boilermakers, who won the last head-to-head meeting in an 18-point decision in last season's Phil Knight Invitational. Zach Edey, the 7-foot-4 center who swept the national player of the year awards, was at the forefront with 23 points, while his teammates knocked down 10 triples. Purdue brought back all five starters from that game, and while new faces make up the Zags' roster, former All-American Adam Morrison believes the familiarity with Edey is beneficial for Mark Few's team.
Morrison previewed the matchup, as well as the rest of the Maui Invitational field, in a new episode of The Perimeter.
