John Stockton on college basketball landscape: 'If you're making decisions only for money, you're making a mistake'

The Gonzaga legend and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame point guard joined Talking Zags to talk about the changing landscape of college athletics

Day by day, the amateurism of college athletics is challenged.

From the introduction of Name, Image and Likeness, to the recent sweep of conference realignment that has seen the destruction of the current Pac-12, the line between high-major Division-I athletics and pro sports has become blurred. And with the topic of unionization and seeing student-athletes as college employees now in the fold, there will be another push for regulation of NIL activities across the country.

Because when it comes to playing a game without rules, especially when it involves money, the players tend to push the limits in any way possible.

While NIL dominates recruiting pitches, TV contracts and revenue heavily dictate the outcome of a school moving to a different conference. From the administration and commissioners down to the students, money talks in any scenario.

Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame point guard and former Gonzaga men's basketball star John Stockton discussed how he sees the current landscape of college athletics and what needs to change on a new episode of Talking Zags.
