Mark Few on Anton Watson after USF win: 'He's obviously the most valuable guy we have out there'

Few praised Watson after his 15-point, 7-rebound performance in Gonzaga's 77-72 win over San Francisco

It's no secret Anton Watson has been the glue that's held the Gonzaga Bulldogs together over the past five years. But this season, he's had a much larger impact as a scorer than ever before.

The Spokane native is averaging a career-best 14.8 points while shooting 58.2% from the floor. On top of his normal defensive-minded self, he leads Gonzaga with 28 steals on the season. From dropping 32 points to shutting down the opposition's best player, there isn't much the 6-foot-8 forward isn't capable of on the court.

"He's obviously the most valuable guy we have out there," Few said after Gonzaga's 77-72 win over San Francisco. "You can switch him onto anybody out there on the floor, he can guard anybody. He's become a better scorer now and a more diversified offensive player. He gets our offense going, he takes the ball out against presses, he does everything for us."

Here's what Few had to say after the Bulldogs' win over the Dons on Thursday. You can listen to his full press conference in the video above.

On Graham Ike's 22-point performance:

"Graham's huge. I mean, some games he just kind of casually gets into them or he's so unselfish, he kind of defers and he can't do that. We need him to be that guy he was in the second half regardless of whatever the post coverages are."

On the team's free-throw woes late:

"It's frustrating. You're rooting for your guys, it's a tough position to be in. I just tell you they've done their work, they put their work in and that's all you want as a coach."
