NCAA Women's Tournament: Gonzaga Bulldogs get No. 9 seed, will play Ole Miss
The 2023 NCAA Women's Tournament bracket has been revealed. And the Gonzaga Bulldogs are going dancing.
After losing to Portland in the West Coast Conference women's basketball tournament championship game, the Zags had to hope for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. And they got it.
Gonzaga received a No. 9 seed in the Seattle Regional 4 of the 2023 NCAA Women's Tournament. The Zags will play No. 8 seed Ole Miss in the first round on Friday in Palo Alto, California.
If Gonzaga can beat Ole Miss, they would play the winner of No. 1 Stanford vs. the First Four play-in winner of Southern/Sacred Heart in the second round.
Gonzaga (28-4) finished with a national ranking of No. 16 and was probably hoping for a higher seed than No. 9. The Bulldogs' loss to Portland, coupled with their NET ranking of No. 44, hurt them in the seeding process. Their first-round opponent, Ole Miss, finished a with a NET ranking of No. 25.
But the bottom line is the Bulldogs got in.
