Report: Big 12 to resume talks about adding Gonzaga
Further clarity on Gonzaga's potential move to the Big 12 could come within the next week, according to a new report.
On Friday, the Houston Chronicle reported the Big 12 will meet next week to discuss the possible addition of the Bulldogs. The Chronicle indicated that the conference may take a vote on their entry, which would require nine stamps of approval. If a vote was to happen after June 30, 2024, then 12 of the league's 16 members would need to approve.
The Big 12 will welcome four former Pac-12 members — Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah — for the 2024-25 athletic season. The new members will have the right to vote on such a matter after July 1.
The report came weeks after Gonzaga Nation confirmed that Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark visited Mark Few in Spokane in late October.

Yormark had already provided clarity on Gonzaga during the Big 12 women's basketball media day, where he stated that "there's nothing imminent" and that he's open to all options that will create "value for membership." The Messenger reported that Yormark would've liked to have seen the Bulldogs join as early as the 2024-25 season, but college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein reported that scenario was unlikely to happen.
Prior to the addition of the Pac-12 defectors, Yormark conducted realignment talks for several months with Gonzaga and UConn. Yormark publicly declared conversations with both basketball powerhouses had ended in mid-August, and while the Huskies remain out of talks, the Bulldogs and the Big 12 resumed high-level discussions.
