Is Graham Ike a good fit for Gonzaga? Mark Few reportedly interested in Wyoming center
With over 1,400 players in the college basketball transfer portal, Mark Few is hoping to land a capable replacement - or two - for former Gonzaga men's basketball big man Drew Timme.
Add Wyoming center Graham Ike to that list.
Ike reportedly visited Gonzaga over the weekend, along with Creighton point guard Ryan Nembhard. Ike has emerged as a top transfer portal target for the Zags, according to 247Sports. Travis Branham, the website’s national recruiting analyst, placed a high-confidence Crystal Ball prediction for the Zags to land Ike.
The 6-foot-9, 255-pound center has three years of eligibility remaining.
Before missing last season with a lower right leg injury, Ike earned First Team All-Mountain West honors in 2022. He averaged 19.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game that year, placing second in the conference in both statistical categories.
Ike’s production led Wyoming to the NCAA Tournament, where it lost to Indiana in the First Four. Without Ike, the Cowboys had a 9-22 record this past season.
Similar to Timme, Ike does his damage from inside the 3-point arc. The difference is Timme relies on footwork and crafty finishes to excel in the low post, while Ike often muscles his way to the rim.
Aside from Gonzaga, Ike has reportedly heard from Arkansas, Arizona, Arizona State, Butler, Colorado, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, San Diego State, Seton Hall, Tennessee, Xavier, Washington State and West Virginia since entering the transfer portal nearly a month ago.
Ike is ranked third among centers and 13th overall in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
