The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced a one-year contract extension for Samuel Emilus on Tuesday. Emilus, a Montreal native, was the Roughriders' Most Outstanding Canadian in 2023 after a breakout season where he finished top-ten in the league with 1,097 receiving yards on 70 catches.

Emilus played collegiately at UMass from 2018 to 2020 and then transferred to Louisiana Tech for 2021 season. He totaled 76 catches for 905 yards with ten touchdown receptions in four years of FBS football.

Prior to moving to the NCAA, Emilus was also a standout at Montreal's Vanier College (comparable to a junior college or community college in the USA), where he totaled 100 receptions, 1,921 receiving yards and 21 touchdown catches.

Saskatchewan selected Emilus seventh overall in the 2022 CFL Draft. He had just nine catches for 168 yards in his first season as a pro.

The 26-year-old will once again be a central piece of a Saskatchewan team that went 6-12 in 2023.
