Navy Football: DT Landon Robinson Wins Prestigious Program Award

The Navy football program announced Wednesday that nose tackle Landon Robinson had been named the winner of the 2024 Admiral Mack Award. The Navy coaching staff give the award annually to the most improved player during the Midshipmen's spring practices.

Robinson, a rising junior from Ohio, had 28 tackles with four sacks and 4.5 TFLs in 2023. He also had a 24-yard carry on a fake punt. At six-feet tall and 278 pounds, Robinson appeared on Bruce Feldman's (The Athletic) Freaks List with a reported 600 pound squat, 420 pound bench press and 33-inch vertical.

The Vice Admiral William P. Mack Award was initiated in 1976 and is named in honor of Vice Admiral Mack, the Naval Academy Superintendent from 1972-75, who was a strong supporter of the school’s intercollegiate athletic program. 

Rising senior defensive lineman Justin Reed won the award last season, making Robinson the second consecutive defensive lineman to win the award.

Navy conclude spring practices on April 12. They enter their second season under the direction of head coach Brian Newberry. The Midshipmen went 5-7 in 2023 - their highest win total since 2019. The went 4-4 in American Athletic Conference play. They open the season on August 31 when they host FCS Bucknell.
